Best 15 Free SEO Tools

Free SEO Tools

When it comes to search engine optimization, all of us who do it know how tough it is to research and monitor keywords, find keyword variations, track rankings and monitor competitors on a regular basis. And this is getting even tougher when it’s done for multiple websites. So, thank God there are tools that make the SEO process less painful.

Keyword Research Tools

SEOBook Tool – First thing you should know is how much traffic your keywords generate and what are the future traffic trends.

Google AdWords – Google’s keyword research tool is probably the best one there is. However, you shouldn’t take the results for granted since it has happened the results to have a margin of error.

WordTracker – Instead of thinking of all the possible variations of your keyword, you can enter it and get the top 100 variations ranked by the traffic data.

Competition Research Tools

KeyCompete – This tool will help you to identify what keywords your competitors use for the PPC campaigns as well as how well they perform.

Backlink Watch – This is a powerful tool that will enable you to estimate the quality and quantity of links needed to beat the top ranking sites.

Willmaster Spiders – Learn how search engines view your website as well as your competitors’ websites.

DNScoop – This tool will give the domain age, page rank, links and more relevant information for every website.

On-page SEO Tools

SEO Workers – This is one of the best tools I have used. It analyzes in detail how well a specific web page is optimized.

SEO Chat Keyword Density Tool – Use this tool to measure the keyword density on your website. Optimal keyword density is 3% – 8%.

JustSearch Mixer – Although this is practically cheating, this tool helps when trying to copy text from other websites i.e. it mixes up the text and changes things around.

Link Research Tools

Yahoo Site Explorer – Will give you all the websites that link to a specific website.

Open Site Explorer – Domain Authority, Page Authority, Total Links, Specific Links, info about the links. Moreover this information can be compared to competitors’.

Website Ranking Tools

Alexa Rank – Although it is questionable how precise this tool is, still it can give an image how well the website stands in regard to the other websites on the Internet.

Google Page Rank – This rank will not affect the SEO of your website directly, but the higher the PR of the websites linking to yours is, the more valuable those links are.

mozRank - This tool is similar to Google PR, but the algorithm in the background works differently. I find it more valuable because Google’s tool has some limitations due to their anti-spam policy.
